Reindeer Lake is known for some of the best trophy fishing in Canada, but there is a lot more to experience than just the fishing alone. Guests from all over the world come to see and experience the ecotourism side of Reindeer Lake as well. With an abundance of untouched natural environment and living skies, your surroundings will stimulate your senses and make you appreciate nature in all its glory.
“With over 5000 islands the scenery is really beautiful on Reindeer Lake. The islands provide protection on windy days so you can always get out somewhere on the lake.”
The Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, are something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Our remote location on Reindeer Lake is great for seeing this light show. The complete lack of light pollution allows us to see incredible starry night skies.
The Northern Lights can be seen most clear nights but the most intense lights happen only occasionally when the sun produces significant solar activity which interacts with the earth’s magnetic fields. When planning your trip for the best viewing of the Aurora Borealis there are times where you can increase your chances of seeing a good show. First of all, plan for when there is the least amount of moonlight and later into the summer season when there are less hours of daylight. Be prepared to stay up until at least midnight and as late as 3 a.m. for the best viewing.
See what’s happening in the night sky when you are way up in northern Canada and be prepared for a jaw-dropping experience while you gaze out into the universe in all its unthinkable complexity. It is hard nowadays to get away from all the light pollution to enjoy and appreciate what we have above us, and when you visit Arctic Lodges you will quickly notice that there is more than just looking straight ahead.
In the high subarctic of Canada, Reindeer Lake lets you enjoy all the beauty of the northern Boreal Forests and the rocky structure of the Canadian Shield. You’ll be lured in by your surroundings while casting into the mouth of a river, or taking a cruise of the shoreline in one of our canoes to get a closer look at nature first hand. After exploring the maze of wooded islands, you can relax and rejuvenate with a cocktail while watching the Arctic Grayling surface right in front of you. Capture a piece of paradise, as Reindeer Lake is filled with picturesque landscapes which makes it an ideal spot for amateur and professional photographers alike.
